== INTRODUCTORY NOTES ==
===================================================================
This song of course sounds best if you tune the guitar down half
a step, but it's not necessary. The chords listed below are all
relative to position, not pitch. For example, anything listed as
an "E" is really "Eb", due to the lower tuning, but it's been
named "E" because the fingering is the way you'd play an "E" if
the guitar were in standard tuning, and so on...
This is a really cool song. There are any number of ways to
actually play it, but the arrangement below is designed for a solo
guitar. There's lots of instrument layering going on in the song
and it's really hard to pick out the exact chords for each part
underneath it all. At any rate, the basics are all definite, but
there is lots of variation. I'm not sure what the names of chords
are below, so I've put an asterisk after all of them. Basically,
you're subtracting the top couple notes of each regular chord and
replacing them with the open top strings instead. There are also a
couple of ways to play some of the chords. I have shown each way
in the chord chart below. My recommendation is to use the
"version 1" chords during the verse sections and the "version 2"
chords during the chorus sections. These may not be EXACTLY
what's actually going on underneath all the production, but I
think it sounds pretty good, especially for one guitar.
Alternatively, you could forget the chords I've shown below and
just play the regular versions of the chords without the open
top strings. That will work as well (I think at least one of the
guitar parts is doing that anyways). One final note is regarding
FIGURE 1 (see reference section at the bottom). This figure is
basically just a bare solo strumming of parts of the B* chord
(just before the choruses). I just made special note of it
because it is slightly different from the other parts of the
song that use the same chord.
