== INTRODUCTORY NOTES ==
===================================================================
The chords listed above the lyrics in the file below are meant to
be guides only. Yes, they are more or less the chord structure
underneath the song, but Joie is not just playing these chords as
the rhythm. The rhythm consists of finger picking little
"mini-riffs" in and around the basic chords. You really have to
just listen to the song to see what I mean. Just add little notes
to the chords here and there. Which means at times the Dmaj7 chord
can actually be a D major, the Gmaj7 chord ends up being a G6
(usually at the end of most lines) by playing the top string open,
and the Em7 is many times just plain old Em. Of course, these are
simplified examples. Tabbing out every little picked phrase would
take forever, so it's up to you to hear what I'm talking about and
add the appropriate notes. It's mostly all improvisation type
stuff, so really you can play whatever you want within the general
framework below. In the next section (chord guide) I've included
the main chords that make up the song (in their various forms) and
also some of the incidental chord forms that end up being played
if you add the little mini-riff notes. Hopefully that should help
a little bit more. I always make this stuff sound far more
complicated than it really is. This song is really simple to
play, so go for it.
I may as well also note that while this song is tuned to standard
pitch, all of Joie's other songs are not. So if you're tuned down
to Eb already, just slap a capo on fret 1, play these chords
relative to that, and you'll be in the proper pitch for this one
odd song in Joie's repertoire.
