JAM: FREE BIRD / HEY, HEY, MY, MY [LIVE]

SONG LYRICS

Phil: We're gonna do a, do an oldie now. Dust it off, bring it out for you.

Fan: Free Bird!

Phil: Free Bird? We have a rule, an unwritten rule in the band, if anyone ever yells "Free Bird" out we play it. So now you're gonna have to sit through it, all eight and a half minutes of it.

Mike (playing the Free Bird opening chord progression): Well I must be travelin' on now, and I just ran out of beer. Yesterday I was in San Francisco. But now I'm a groovin' right here. I said hey, hey, my, my. Rock and roll will never die. I said hey, hey, my, my. Rock and roll will never die.

Phil: You asked for it you got it. (Joie: Play all those solo riffs, right Gurley?) Number three on the all-time hit parade, "Free Bird", "Hey, Hey, My, My"...

The performance is taken from the 05/19/93 KBCO/Westwood One show in Boulder, although it doesn't seem to show up on any of the official Westwood One issued recordings of the show.
